Product Overview

Samyang 50mm F1.4 AS UMC is a large-aperture manual-focus normal prime lens for Canon EF-mount, Nikon F-mount, Pentax K-mount, Sony A-mount, and Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Samyang in 2015, it has 9 elements in 6 groups.
Manual focus may be limiting to some, but purists will find it much more engaging. There are also fewer things to go wrong on the long run. Unfortunately, Samyang has opted to omit weather sealing for this lens, so owners should pay extra attention when shooting in incremental weathers.
A normal prime lens, the Samyang 50mm F1.4 AS UMC has the potential to be one of the most used and ultimately versatile option in a photographer's bag. Usually the easiest to design and to QC, it is a great option for landscape and street photography. Its bright maximum aperture also helps night and portrait works. Those who like sunstars (sun bursts) will be pleased by the lens' even-numbered aperture count, though conversely those who find sunstars distracting may have the opposite feeling.
