Product Overview
Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm F1.8 is a wide-angle prime lens for Micro Four Thirds-mount. It covers the MFT image circle. Introduced by Olympus in 2012, it has 9 elements in 6 groups.
The bright maximum aperture for a wide-angle lens is appreciated for night photography, though some may prefer the perspective of an ultra wide-angle lens for this. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8 is a prime lens designed for general-purpose use. With an equivalent focal length of 34mm, it delivers a field of view that’s almost identical to the classic 35mm lenses adored by street photographers. It's comfortably wider than a 50mm equivalent without suffering from the distortion of 28mm equivalent and wider options. The bright aperture is useful in low light and can also deliver shallow depth of field effects if the subject is close to the minimum focusing distance.

Cons
- Lens hood is optional, there’s no weatherproofing and the price is quite high, especially if you don’t already own the 20mm
