Product Overview

Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD is a standard zoom lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Tamron in 2018, it has 15 elements in 12 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD is externally-zooming. For incremental weathers, Tamron is kind enough to include weather sealing.
A standard zoom lens with relatively bright maximum aperture, the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD can be a key piece in a photographer's arsenal, though some may prefer prime lenses in this focal range.

The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens delivers image quality comparable to the best-in-class lenses. It is far smaller, much lighter, and costs significantly less than the premier lens options. The Tamron's light weight does not exude rugged build quality confidence, but it seems nicely built with tight tolerances.
Pros
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Very long warranty
  • Good image quality
Cons
  • Lateral CA

Reviewers from phillipreeve have found:
The Tamron 2.8/28-75 Di III RXD is the first Tamron lens for mirrorless full frame cameras. It is a f2.8 standard zoom lens that handles like the usual f4 counterparts. The lens has high vignetting wide open, the extreme corner sharpness is not on par with the best lenses.
Pros
  • F2.8 standard zoom lens
  • High vignetting wide open
  • Very good correction of LoCA
Cons
  • Bokeh is harsh and sometimes distracting
  • Poor bokeh
