The SEL2470GM does not disappoint. Autofocus is quick, precise and decisive. Especially for portraits, the Eye AF (focus on the dominant eye) works very well. The image center is quite soft at 70mm f/2.8. This clears up nicely by f4 and remains very sharp up to f/11.

Sony FE 24-70mm f2.8 GM captures a visibly wider angle at the short end. Focus accuracy and repeatability is critical to consistently produce sharp shots. At 70mm focal length the lens focuses in around 0.7 sec from infinity to 0.8m (1:10 magnification), which is as fast as the Tamron and Sigma. The lens shows a little zoom creep but the lock at 24mm can prevent that.
