Product Overview

Sony FE 24mm F1.4 GM is a large-aperture wide-angle prime lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Sony in 2018, it has 13 elements in 10 groups.
For incremental weathers, Sony is kind enough to include weather sealing. On the lens barrel, one can find a physical aperture ring. Those who wish to focus manually can have the best of both worlds (with the usual caveats).
The bright maximum aperture for a wide-angle lens is appreciated for night photography, though some may prefer the perspective of an ultra wide-angle lens for this. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

    cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Sony FE 24mm f1.4 G Master is a wide-angle prime lens designed for its Alpha series of full-frame mirrorless cameras. It delivers a popular field-of-view that’s wider than 28mm without the distortion related to wider options. The lens focuses in around 0.5 sec on an A7R II from infinity to 0.34m (1:10 magnification), which is very fast.
    Pros
    • Sharp field-of-view
    • De-clickable aperture ring
    • F1.4 focal ratio
    Cons
    • High price

    digitalpicture[2]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from digitalpicture have found:
Sony's 24mm f/1.4 prime lens is one of the most represented lenses in manufacturers' lineups. This lens is compact, lightweight, and relatively affordable with the very impressive image quality. The downsides? Chromatic aberrations are somewhat strong and landscape photographers especially are going to wish the vignetting was lower at narrow apertures.
    Pros
    • Excellent image sharpness at f/1.4
    • Compact, lightweight, and relatively affordable
    • E-mount version of the lens for native compatibility
    Cons
    • Lack of lateral CA
    • Larger aperture blades than f/2

    pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The FE 24mm can focus fairly close, to about 9.5 inches, but its wide angle of view limits macro magnification to 1:5.9 life-size. There's essentially no visible distortion, and while we can see a slight vignette at f/1.4 when photographing a flat gray field, the -2.2EV drop at the corners is modest and won't show up in most shots. At $1,399, it may give some photographers slight sticker shock.
    Pros
    • Excellent image quality at f/1.4 and f/2.4
    • Wide angle of view
    • In-body stabilization
    Cons
    • No optical stabilization
