Product Overview

Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm F4.5-5.6E ED VR is a telephoto zoom lens for Nikon F-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Nikon in 2017, it has 18 elements in 14 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm F4.5-5.6E ED VR is externally-zooming. Unfortunately, Nikon has opted to omit weather sealing for this lens, so owners should pay extra attention when shooting in incremental weathers.
As a telephoto zoom lens, the Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm F4.5-5.6E ED VR is well suited for landscape and portrait photography, though its relatively dark maximum aperture limits its performance for indoor sports. Built-in image stabilization makes the lens easier to use handheld, and can be quite valuable for landscape works.

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The new Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f4.5-5.6E VR is Nikon's most advanced telephoto zoom lens to date. It offers fast, super-quiet, relatively small and relatively small autofocus - if you have a body that supports it. The lens is well sealed against the elements and has a reasonable price. In light of these advantages I wouldn't overrate the weakness of this lens.
Pros
  • Sharpness and repeatability
  • 4.5x zoom
  • Fast autofocus
Cons
  • No zoom lock
  • No distance limiter
