Product Overview

Zeiss Otus 85mm F1.4 Planar is a flagship large-aperture manual-focus short telephoto prime lens for Canon EF-mount and Nikon F-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Zeiss in 2014, it has 11 elements in 9 groups.
Manual focus may be limiting to some, but purists will find it much more engaging. There are also fewer things to go wrong on the long run. In the case of this Otus, we really find the best from the best.
A telephoto prime lens, the Zeiss Otus 85mm F1.4 is well suited for portrait photography, for which we really find the best image quality on the market today.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Zeiss Otus 85mm f1.4 is one of the most accommodating lenses for the intricacies of manual focus. It has nine rounded aperture blades and the aperture ring has half-stop clicks up to f11. The lens is built like a tank with a fully metal outer barrel, metal innards, and a metal lens hood that fits seamlessly at the lens-front.
Pros
  • Sharpness, contrast, resistance against contra light, coma, loCA, coma
  • Excellent build quality
  • Compact design
Cons
  • No manual focus
