Product Overview

Zeiss Loxia 35mm F2 is a manual-focus wide-angle prime lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Zeiss in 2014, it has 9 elements in 6 groups.
Manual focus may be limiting to some, but purists will find it much more engaging. There are also fewer things to go wrong on the long run. To this end, the Loxia boasts some of the smoothest focus ring ever found on a photographic lens. For street photography, which this lens is well suited for, manual focus could be a blessing indeed.
As a wide-angle prime lens that happens to have relatively small maximum aperture, it is best suited for landscape photography, though some may wish for a brighter alternative for versatility. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

PCH Zeiss Loxia 35mm F2 thanks to PCH store I could test the lens. The tests were made on a Sony A7RII, the most demanding sensor with 42 Mpix. At the centre the lens is a soft at F2.8 et become very good to excellent at F4 until F11 Corners and borders are behind and only become good at F8, F11. Bokeh is good but as you need to close down quite a bit to get good sharpness result.
