Product Overview

Zeiss Loxia 25mm F2.4 Distagon is a manual-focus wide-angle prime lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Zeiss in 2018, it has 10 elements in 8 groups.
Manual focus may be limiting to some, but purists will find it much more engaging. There are also fewer things to go wrong on the long run. To this end, the Loxia boasts some of smoothest focus ring ever found on a photographic lens. For incremental weathers, Zeiss is kind enough to include weather sealing.
As a wide-angle prime lens that happens to have relatively small maximum aperture, it is best suited for landscape photography, though some may wish for a brighter alternative for versatility. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

Zeiss Loxia 25mm F2.4 is a lens family with manual focus, it contains 5 lenses as of 2018. The tests were made on a Sony A7RIII, the most demanding sensor with 42 Mpix. It will be the perfect choice for street photography, some landscape and even for some full body pictures, both in photo and in video.
      Pros
      • Small, extremely well built, and easy to focus
      • Very good bokeh balls perfectly circular, a little bit oval on the edge
      • Very nice background blur very smooth
      Cons
      • Distorsion is non existant in almost all situations, lens fall off (very present) is fully corrected in Lightroom Colors, contrast are superb with a typical Zeiss signature (that I like very much)
