Product Overview

Zeiss Batis 25mm F2 is a wide-angle prime lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Zeiss in 2015, it has 10 elements in 8 groups.
For incremental weathers, Zeiss is kind enough to include weather sealing.
As a wide-angle prime lens that happens to have relatively small maximum aperture, it is best suited for landscape photography, though some may wish for a brighter alternative for versatility. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

PCH Zeiss Batis 25mm F2 thanks to PCH store I could test the lens. All photos taken with Sony A7RII and without post processing are available in full size (42Mpix) The lens is in line with the rest of the Zeiss Baths serie Autofocus The AF is fast and totally quiet (which is very much appreciated for movie recording) DXO Mark
Pros
  • Very good performance for a wide angle, stopping down to F4, it will give its full potential
  • Lightroom is correcting those very well
Cons
  • Some weight, some discretion and a better color rendition
  • Bokeh is very pleasing, but to get a blurry background your subject need to be very close which distort the perspective
