Product Overview

TCL R625 is a mainstream 4K QLED TV in TCL's 2019 lineup. It is powered by a 10-bit VA panel and available in 55" and 65" size classes.
Some highlights of the TCL R625 include a high screen-to-body ratio up to 95.04% and high brightness. Additionally, it supports full-array LED local-dimming. With mini-LEDs, full-array LED dimming helps the panel achieve higher contrast and dynamic range. It supports HDR formats including HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), and Dolby Vision.

pcmag[1]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The TCL 6-Series is an outstanding line of TVs. At $800 for 65 inches, it offers five-digit contrast, a peak brightness that exceeds 1,000cd/m2. SDR colors are mostly spot-on out of the box, though greens and yellows are slightly undersaturated.
Pros
  • Five-digit contrast
  • Excellent color accuracy
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Magenta leaning a bit too warm

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 60% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The TCL 6 Series/R625 2019 is a good TV for most uses. It has a high contrast ratio and displays deep, uniform blacks in a dark room. Its low input lag makes it a good choice for playing games, but its slower response time causes more motion blur. Although the TV is suitable for a bright room thanks to its high brightness levels, the image loses accuracy at an angle.
Pros
  • Outstanding contrast ratio
  • Outstanding black uniformity
  • Excellent local dimming feature
  • Low input lag
Cons
  • Some motion artifacts and duplications in fast-moving content
  • Disappointing viewing angles
  • Image degrades at an angle

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The TCL 6-Series QLED has all the tech it needs to make 4K HDR content shine. It's not Samsung QLED levels of gorgeous but it's still seriously good-looking. The two 8W down-firing speakers sound a bit harsh at higher volume levels. The best thing you can do with the money you save on the TV is invest in a soundbar.
Pros
  • Excellent picture quality
  • Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support
  • Excellent motion handling
Cons
  • No Dolby Vision or HDR10 support
  • No smartCast

tomsguide[4]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The TCL 6-Series set has Roku's Live TV Pause feature. By plugging your own 16GB thumb drive into the USB port, you get 90 minutes of DVR-like stopping and restarting of programs. There are 6 preset sound modes: Music, Theater, Normal, Speech, Big Bass, and High Treble.
Pros
  • Excellent picture quality
  • Dolby Atmos support
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • No headphone jack
  • No built-in surround sound
