Product Overview
TCL R745 is a high-end 4K TV in TCL's 2021 lineup. It is powered by a 10-bit panel and available in 85" size class.
A highlight of the TCL R745 is a high screen-to-body ratio up to 95.60%. Additionally, it supports full-array LED local-dimming. With mini-LEDs, full-array LED dimming helps the panel achieve higher contrast and dynamic range. It supports HDR formats including HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). It covers 100% of DCI-P3 color space, which is excellent news for those who appreciate color accuracy.

digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)All around, the 85R745's motion is very good. Most premium streaming apps like Netflix, Disney +, HBO Max, etc. look very clean. It's the more compressed stuff on YouTube that tend to look a little noisy at times. The real bonus is the price, as TCL provides pretty significant value.
Pros
- Excellent picture quality
- Solid motion handling
- Solid black levels
Cons
- No HDMI 2.1
rtings[2]
Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)The TCL 85R745 is great for most uses. It has a VA panel that produces deep blacks, but its local dimming feature is mediocre and causes a ton of blooming. It's great for gaming, either in SDR or HDR, because it has a quick response time, low input lag, and variable refresh rate (VRR) support.
Pros
- Fantastic peak brightness
- Excellent response time
- High native contrast ratio
- Low input lag
Cons
- Mediocre local dimming
- Narrow viewing angles
- Local dimming causes too much blooming
