External Reviews
pcmag[1]
Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)BenQ emphasizes the EW3280U's sound system, and for good reason. The audio system has excellent bass and very good treble response. It's fine for casual gaming, but it doesn't have a wealth of gaming-centric features. It earns its own Editors' Choice as an entertainment monitor.
Pros
- High-resolution resolution
- Excellent audio
- Good contrast ratio
Cons
- No built-in speakers
- Limited gaming features
t3[2]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)The BenQ EW3280U has a 4K UHD screen that looks stunning in use. It features BenQ's own custom HDRi to balance out the light and dark parts of a frame. The integrated 2.1 Trevolo speakers deliver a punch as well, and there's a convenient volume rocker under the screen.
Pros
- 4K UHD resolution
- Excellent viewing angles
- Decent 4K HDR
Cons
- Not the best looking
techradar[3]
Reviewer score 61% (normalized by Neofiliac)The BenQ EW3280U has a 4K resolution and USB-C connectivity. It's not a true HDR display by any stretch, thanks to a lack of local dimming capability, a panel contrast of 1000:1 and a peak brightness of 400cd/m2. The only obvious shortfall involves the tilt-only stand.
Pros
- Bright, saturated IPS panel
- USB-C connectivity with DisplayPort Alt mode
Cons
- Tilt-only stand
- No local dimming
tomshardware[4]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)The EW3280U looks great in its Standard mode and does not require calibration. It has nearly spot-on grayscale tracking and gamma and almost all the DCI-P3 color space. The speakers with subwoofer enhancement covered far more of the frequency range than nearly every monitor we've reviewed.
Pros
- Wide color gamut
- Accurate HDR
- Good speakers
Cons
- No G-Sync Compatible
- No Dolby Vision support
