Product Overview

LG 27GL83A UltraGear is a mid-range 27-inch QHD gaming monitor. It features an IPS panel with 1ms response time and supports both G-SYNC and FreeSync. This combination makes it an interesting option not only for gaming but also for general home entertainment.
Compared to lower-tier models of the same generation ("GL"), the 27GL83A has a middle-of-the-road QHD resolution that, while not breaking any records, allows for sharp images and texts without the need for scaling at 27 inches. LG has also endowed the 27GL83A with an ergonomic stand (really just a red-accented version of the same stand found in LG's business line ("B" series) with height, tilt, and pivot adjustments.
Still, the 27GL83A is far from being the cream of the crop: For example, it is limited to 144Hz maximum refresh rate. For home use, it also misses any USB support.
A similar monitor that is perhaps more appropriate for content creators who also game is the 27GL850, thanks to its Nano IPS panel.
