Product Overview

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal is a premium wireless headset with features designed for gaming. It can be considered the sister model of the Beoplay HX unveiled at the same time: here, the Portal gains Xbox wireless connectivity at the cost of a shorter battery life.
Another area where the Beoplay Portal differs from the HX is the shape of the earcups: a more prominent bump allows for the forming of a virtual boom arm for improved conversations in gaming situations.
Otherwise, the Beoplay Portal is just like the Beoplay HX. Both use 40mm dynamic drivers with neodymium magnets. The headband and earcups are crafted out of aluminum and wrapped in leather and fabric.

rtings[1]

Reviewer score 45% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal are adequate for neutral sound. They're lacking some low-bass, so you don't really feel the deep rumble in bass-heavy music. The headphones are comfortable enough for long listening sessions, and their great battery performance makes them suitable for long days on the go.
Pros
  • Comfortable fit
  • Graphic EQ and presets
  • Well-built design
  • Great battery performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Not very portable
  • No IP rating for water resistance
  • Mediocre noise isolation performance

techradar[2]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal doesn't look like a pair of gaming headphones at all. With lambskin leather earcups, finely milled aluminum, and composite polymer, the headset's exceptional build quality is noticeable from the moment you pick it up. It feels completely effortless to wear, too, thanks to its lightweight design and breathable materials. The headset's microphone uses clever beam-array technology to create a virtual boom mic.
Pros
  • Impressive sound quality
  • Impressive battery life
  • Excellent active noise cancelling
Cons
  • Battery life could be better
  • No wireless charging

trustedreviews[3]

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The Beoplay Portal are marketed as the ultimate premium gaming headphones. The Atmos performance here is, quite literally, a game changer. With music, this means I can pick out funky basslines better, while still hearing the chattering of a drummer’s hi-hat. Bullet sounds pierce the air, clearly separate from the background sounds of battle as chaos rages around you.
Pros
  • Attractive design
  • Excellent audio performance
  • Built-in mic
Cons
  • No built-in microphone
