Product Overview

Lenovo ThinkPad E14 GEN 3 is the most affordable 14-inch business laptop in the 2021 ThinkPad lineup. It has a sleeker design than the corporate-oriented L14 GEN 2, though compromises in I/O options and connectivity make the E14 GEN 3 closer to a consumer-grade device with some ThinkPad-exclusive features.
The E14 GEN 3 is powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 U-series APUs with integrated graphics. Up to 8 cores can be configured, which is paired with up to 24GB of DDR4 memory. As is the case with other AMD laptops this year, there is no Thunderbolt or PCIe Gen 4 support. In the particular case of the E14 GEN 3, WWAN is also unavailable; neither are smart card reader, SD card reader, or NFC.
On the positive side, the E14 GEN 3 has the design and dimensions of the T14 GEN 2. It also comes with two material options. This makes the E14 GEN 3 more appealing to small businesses that wish to convey the professionalism of owning a ThinkPad.
The 15.6-inch alternative to the E14 GEN 3 is the E15 GEN 3. One should note that the E-series ThinkPads, being the first to adopt Lenovo's new naming scheme, is nominally one "generation" ahead of other ThinkPads.

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The ThinkPad E14 G3 is once again a good office laptop with a great price-performance ratio. You do not get the most high-end specs or best materials, but the notebook does not disappoint in the important sections. Lenovo increased the battery capacity to 57 Wh and this obviously has a positive effect on the battery runtime. You can notice the low price at some points, starting with the one-year warranty.
Pros
  • Great price-performance ratio
  • Good keyboard
  • Long battery runtime
  • Good speakers
Cons
  • No SD card reader
  • No Thunderbolt 3
