Product Overview

Lenovo ThinkPad L14 GEN 2 is a mid-range 14-inch business laptop powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 U-series APUs with integrated graphics. It is a more affordable alternative to the T14 GEN 2 designed primarily for large businesses.
Like the T14 GEN 2, the L14 GEN 2 has access to AMD Ryzen 7 APUs with 8 cores. What differs here is that two SO-DIMM slots are available for even higher amount of memory. The laptop's chassis, however, is made of ABS plastic, which contributes the device's larger size and higher weight.
FHD IPS displays are available, though the standard is an obsolete HD TN panel with poor graphics. I/O-wise, the L14 GEN 2 has most ports that business users need. It also supports optional smart card reader and 4G or LTE WWAN, though there is no NFC support.
An even more affordable business laptop in the 2021 ThinkPad lineup is the E14 GEN 3. There is also an Intel-powered L14 GEN 2 i with the usual AMD-Intel tradeoffs.
The 15.6-inch variant of the L14 GEN 2 is the L15 GEN 2, which comes with most of the same feature set and design elements, with the larger keyboard being one of the distinguishing factors.

Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The average performance of the RX Vega 8 is 14% to 19% higher in the 3DMark tests. The internal battery is the one with the lowest capacity among the current 14-inch ThinkPads. The ThinkPad L14 Gen 2 isn't as suitable for mobile use as the more expensive ThinkPad T series or the ThinkPad E14 Gen 3.

  • High-quality case
  • Good input devices
  • Long battery life
  • Good connectivity
Cons
  • Weak display
