Product Overview

Lenovo ThinkPad T14s GEN 2 AMD is the more premium version of the T14 GEN 2 for the 2021 model year. Likewise powered by Ryzen 5000 U-series APUs with integrated graphics, the T14s GEN 2 is just a half step away from the X1 Carbon GEN 9 in claiming the crown of the 14-inch business laptop.
From a basic feature point of view, the T14s GEN 2 is rather similar to the T14 GEN 2. Still, it is slightly thinner and lighter and comes with a larger battery for more on-the-go juice, for which the user loses the user-upgradable SO-DIMM slot: the T14s GEN 2 uses soldered-on LPDDR4x memory, which nonetheless is more efficient.
A notable inclusion here is the option of 5G WWAN, which makes the T14s GEN 2 a more compelling option for mobile computing while tethered to the net.
While the T14s GEN 2 resembles the T14 GEN 2 appearance-wise, it indeed uses more premium materials: the black version uses carbon fiber top with magnesium chassis, bringing it closer to the X1 Carbon, which uses more carbon fiber for weight reduction.
There is also a Storm Gray option, which makes the laptop less "ThinkPad-y", heavier, and thicker due to its aluminum construction—a rather uncompelling combination.
Lenovo also markets the Intel-powered T14s GEN 2 i, which shares with the T14s GEN 2 all the features and a little more (Thunderbolt, PCIe 4) but whose CPUs are less powerful.
