Lenovo ThinkPad T14 GEN 2 14" AMD Laptop (2021)

Lenovo ThinkPad T14 GEN 2 AMD is a 14-inch premium business laptop powered by Ryzen 5000 U-series Cezanne APUs with integrated graphics. Built much like the Intel-powered T14 GEN 2 i, it excels in raw computing power and efficiency, thanks to up to the 7nm processors with up to 8 cores (as opposed to 4 cores in the Intel variant).

The ThinkPad T14 GEN 2 AMD comes in the classic ThinkPad design that serious professionals and enthusiasts have come to love. With nothing conspicuous, the laptop nonetheless offers some of the richest set of I/O options, including full-size HDMI and Ethernet ports. There is also a SO-DIMM slot for user-upgradable memory.

Compared to the Intel variant, however, there are some compromises: Thunderbolt is unavailable, and the SSD is limited to PCIe 3. Other limitations shared with the T14 GEN 2 i include micro SD card reader instead of a full-size SD card reader and the lack of support for 5G WWAN.

Like several other ThinkPad models this year, the T14 GEN 2 comes with an optional Storm Gray design that uses an aluminum top cover. However, considering that ThinkBooks (which are lower-end) use that color scheme by default and that black-on-black is the legendary ThinkPad look, it stands to reason that black is what buyers should stick with when it comes to the T14.

As usual, those who wish for the best from Lenovo can opt for the X1 Carbon GEN 9, while those who want to save a bit can go with the E14 GEN 3 or L14 GEN 2.
