Product Overview

LG TONE Free FP8 (UFP8) is a premium true wireless headphones in LG's 2021 TONE Free lineup. It is rather similar to the FP9 unveiled at the same time, though it trades the "Plug & Wireless" feature for wireless charging, which some users may find more useful.
Like the FN7 from 2020 as well as the FP9, the FP8 comes with active noise cancellation (ANC) with the same 3-mic setup. Still, it is noteworthy that this is not the most advanced ANC system available on the market right now, as only one pair of the three microphones is used for ANC. Instead, they prioritize call quality.
The FP8 also features 8mm diaphragms that are notably larger than earlier TONE Free models.
Like other LG TONE Free earbuds, the TONE-FP8 features audio processing by Meridian Audio. It recreates a broad soundstage while delivering clear and precise vocals.
The self-sanitizing charging case featured in the TONE Free series is here again. Using ultraviolet light, the case eliminates 99.9% of E. coli and S. aureus bacteria on the earbuds' inner mesh. It has the LED status light from the FN7 that makes it easy to monitor charging level and UVnano status.
Another model unveiled at the same time is the TONE Free FP5.

Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The Tone Free FP8 is LG's best pair of wireless earbuds to date. Fast charging matches the AirPods Pro and WF-1000XM4 with a 5-minute charge generating 1 hour of use. Wireless charging is available, so you can power up the buds by placing the case atop a qi-enabled charging pad.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Excellent call quality
  • Good battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • Lackluster call quality

Reviewers from pcmag have found:
LG Tone Free FP8 earphones deliver fine audio performance, but their active noise cancellation isn't stellar. We encountered many problems with their companion app in testing. The built-in mic offers solid intelligibility, but the signal does seem a little weak. For inexpensive, decent ANC, the Anker Soundcore Life P3 earbuds are hard to beat.
Pros
  • Decent noise cancellation
  • Comfortable fit
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Noise cancellation isn’t great
  • App needs to be reconnected to the earbuds

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 62% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The LG Tone Free FP8 don't come with a built-in assistant like the Apple AirPods or Google Pixel Buds. The app is intuitive and easy to use, making it a lot better than some of its competitors. While they still can't cancel out quite as much noise as, say, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, the FP8 can eliminate a large amount of outside noise.
Pros
  • Excellent noise cancelling
  • Great battery life
  • Great app
Cons
  • No built-in assistant
  • Poor call quality
