LG TONE Free FP9 (UFP9) True Wireless In-Ear Headphones w/ ANC (2021)

LG TONE Free FP9 (UFP9) is the new flagship of LG's TONE Free true wireless earphones lineup. It is an upgrade over the FN7 from 2020 with longer battery life but roughly the same design and feature set.

The TONE Free FP9 comes with a new wireless charging case that can act as a wireless dongle. With the included AUX to USB-C cable, it allows users to connect to a broad range of sources such as in-car or in-flight infotainment systems.

Like the FN7, the FP9 comes with active noise cancellation (ANC) with the same 3-mic setup. Still, it is noteworthy that this is not the most advanced ANC system available on the market right now, as only one pair of the three microphones is used for ANC. Instead, they prioritize call quality.

Another important update is in the drivers. The FP9 now features 8mm diaphragms, notably larger than earlier TONE Free models.

Like other LG TONE Free earbuds, the TONE-FP9 features audio processing by Meridian Audio. It recreates a broad soundstage while delivering clear and precise vocals.

The self-sanitizing charging case featured in the TONE Free series is here again. Using ultraviolet light, the case eliminates 99.9% of E. coli and S. aureus bacteria on the earbuds' inner mesh. It has the LED status light from the FN7 that makes it easy to monitor charging level and UVnano status.

Alongside the FP9, LG also unveiled the FP8 and FP5 for the same generation.
