Sonus faber Electa Amator III
Bookshelf LoudspeakerProduct Gallery
Product Overview
Sonus faber Electa Amator III is the larger of two bookshelf loudspeakers in the company's Heritage collection. Its design echoes that of Electa Amator from 1987 and Electa Amator II from 1997, though its drivers and crossover feature the latest technologies from the Italian marque.
Notably, the Electa Amator III is sold with a matching stand made of anodized aluminum column filled with damping material mounted on a Carrara marble base. The marble mirrors part of the construction of the speaker cabinet, while brass is also used in the construction. Per usual, the Electa Amator III features Sonus faber's signature Italian leather fascia.
The drivers on the Electa Amator III feature Sonus faber's DAD, Damped Apex Dome, technology. With a unique design choice, the rear vent allows the rear enclosure of the tweeter to be observed and admired.
Two other speakers in this series include the small bookshelf Minima Amator II and the floorstander Maxima Amator.

Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Electa Amator III is no substitute for the Sasha DAW. It's less than a quarter of the size and price, has less wooferage, yadayadayada. But damn, it sounded so good, so convincing, so large, so open. The best analogy I can provide is to liken it to finding a £20 bottle of wine that nearly impersonates one costing £80.
Pros
- Gorgeous, expansive soundstage
- Impressive bass reproduction
Cons
- Lack of bass depth

Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Sonus Faber Electa Amator III are a superb pair of high-end speakers. With the right music they can sound almost magical, and on more than one occasion had us wondering if anything could sound better. They're not intended to be ultra-neutral studio monitors, so if you want the last word in tonal accuracy then look elsewhere.
Pros
- Impressive midrange expression and articulation
- Impressive build quality
Cons
- Expensive for what you get
