Product Overview

MSI Alpha 15 B5EX is a premium 15.6-inch gaming laptop powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU and AMD Radeon RX 6600M GPU. Just like its predecessor, it is the world's first laptop to feature the two in an all-AMD setup.

Besides the chip upgrade, the new B5EX Alpha 15 is also made thinner than the first-gen Alpha 15, measuring now less than 1" in thickness.

Otherwise, the B5EX inherits the success formula of its predecessor, including its 144Hz FreeSync Premium IPS display, dual channel DDR4-3200MHz memory, and dual 2W stereo speakers. It omits, however, some of the less common I/O ports.

Other highlights include support for the latest Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity and Nahimic 3 Audio Enhancer.

Alongside the Alpha 15 B5EX, MSI also introduced the 17-inch Alpha 17 AMD Advantage Edition and 15-inch Delta 15 AMD Advantage Edition.

The corresponding Intel-powered model in MSI's lineup is the Pulse GL66 / Crosshair 15.

The MSI Alpha 15 is equipped with a pair of bottom-firing stereo speakers. The speakers seem quite small for a chassis this big, and their loudness is just about serviceable. We recommend using a proper gaming headset for a better aural experience. The laptop's overall power consumption seems to be quite economical for a device of its class.
