Sonus faber Lumina II
Bookshelf LoudspeakerProduct Gallery
Product Overview
Sonus faber Lumina II is the larger of two bookshelf loudspeakers in the company's new entry-level Lumina collection. Compared to the comparable model in Sonus faber's previous entry point, the Sonetto II, the Lumina II loses the unique Lute shape; still, it retains the leather details and is made in Italy.
The Lumina II features a 2-way bass-reflex design with a single 150mm paper cone mid-woofer and a 29mm DAD tweeter. It is built into a minimalist cabinet with real wood front baffles in three designs: Walnut and Wenge in matte with maple inlays and glossy Piano Black. The cabinet is wrapped in leather everywhere else.
For price-sensitive HiFi-enthusiasts, the Lumina II makes for an interesting solution for stereo setup in small rooms. It is perhaps better employed as rear speakers in home theatre setups.
Other loudspeakers in the Lumina collection include two floorstanders, Lumina V and Lumina II, a smaller bookshelf speaker, Lumina I, and a center-channel speaker, Lumina CI.

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)Trees Speak’s new album, PostHuman, recently came in on vinyl. The Sonus faber Lumina II delivered one of my favorite renderings of this album—ever. While imaging and tonality were exceptional for a speaker of this price, the soundstage wasn’t quite as huge as some of those expensive premium monitors.
Pros
- High-quality, high-quality speakers
- Excellent bass and clarity
- Great build quality
Cons
- Not as powerful as some competitors
