Product Overview

Sony BRAVIA XR Master Series Z9J is a full-array LED 8K smart TV. Sharing the COGNITIVE PROCESSOR XR with Sony 2021 flagship OLED models, the Z9J pushes the picture quality of 8K image with industry-leading image processing.
Thanks to full-array LED backlighting, the Z9J is able to deliver deeper blacks and bright light in each frame. With Cognitive Processor XR, each backlit unit is controlled more precisely, which, together with the richer color gamut of the panel, makes for a more immersive viewing experience. Naturally, the Z9J features strong 8K upscaling for non-8K sources.
The advanced speaker technologies further make the Z9J a strong media center without external HiFi systems.
Sony refreshed its smart TV lineup at CES 2021, during which it introduced the new BRAVIA XR-series of which the Z9J is the flagship.

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The Sony Z9J isn't the best choice for gamers who want the latest features. variable refresh rate (VRR) is not yet supported (at least not in the U.S.) Auto low-latency mode was only recently offered (sort of) in a firmware update and is reportedly buggy.
    Pros
    • Sleek design
    • Excellent black levels
    • Excellent HDR performance
    Cons
    • No HDMI 2.1 support
    • No 4K resolution

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from techhive have found:
The Z9J delivers the Sony image that fans are looking for. The color is accurate, but not quite as true as that delivered by quantum dots. Motion smoothing was excellent, though not quite on par with the Vizio P-Series. Audio was nothing less than fantastic, for a TV at any rate.
    Pros
    • Excellent 4K UHD image quality
    • Excellent motion smoothing
    • Great sound
    Cons
    • No HDMI port
    • Android TV doesn’t support HEVC or AV1
