Product Overview

ASUS ZenFone 6 is a flagship-level smartphone by ASUS in 2019. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 mobile platform and features a 6.4-inch IPS NanoEdge Display, and a unique flip-up camera unit.
This flip-up main camera unit allows the user to access both camera units as front-facing cameras. It also makes it possible for ASUS to push the phone's display to the edge of all sides, resulting in a 92% screen-to-body ratio without notch or punch hole.
This display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and covers 100% DCI-P3 color space. It also produces 600 nits of brightness, making texts easily readily in bright outdoor environments.

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The ZenFone 6 embodies everything that's great about smartphones in 2019. It doesn't follow trends set by Apple and Samsung, it doesn't just adopt the features other manufacturers have chosen. The base AnTuTu score is the third highest score we've seen to date. There's a year's warranty, and like the ROG Phone, it covers manufacturing defects, but not misuse.
Pros
  • Excellent performance
  • Excellent camera
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No IP rating

Reviewers from gsmarena have found:
We were a tiny bit skeptical about the stabilization in 2160p/60fps, but it does actually work, and it works well. Whether walking or panning, the Zenfone 6 has got you covered, producing stable footage. 1080p/30fps looks sharper than 60fps here, so make sure you stay on the right side of this trade off.
Pros
  • Gorgeous OLED display
  • Excellent battery life
  • Great performance
Cons
  • No microSD slot
  • No telephoto camera
  • No headphone jack

Reviewers from nextpit have found:
With the ZenFone 6, Asus also introduces ZenUI 6, an Android version based on Android Pie. The redesigned interface includes new animations and has been designed to make it easier to use with one hand. For less than 500 euros, it's simply one of the most powerful smartphones. No game is too much and you can enjoy the best graphics available anytime.
Pros
  • High-quality case
  • Good performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Mediocre cameras
  • No wireless charging

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The internal UFS 2.1 storage of the Asus ZenFone 6 delivers great performance values and only falters slightly when it comes to large amounts of data. With the smartphone's purchase, users can subscribe to Asus' own cloud service WebStorage. The Qualcomm Adreno 640 is currently the most powerful graphics unit inside of an Android smartphone.
Pros
  • High-quality case
  • Long battery life
  • Fast SoC
Cons
  • Mediocre display
  • No Wi-Fi 6

techadvisor[5]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The Asus ZenFone 6 is one of our favourite smartphones of 2019. It has a 6.4in full-screen display and boasts an incredible 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. Beneath the display, you'll find Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855 processor alongside an Adreno 640 GPU. There's either 6- or 8GB of RAM and 128- or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage, depending on the variant that you opt for (there's also a cheap 6/64GB variant, but it's not available in the UK and much of Europe)
Pros
  • Gorgeous FHD+ display
  • Fantastic battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No IP rating
  • No wireless charging

techradar[6]

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
Fone 6's camera sits in a little metal block that rotates around on a 13-gear mechanism. It's a complicated little thing. It makes us a lot more worried about its long-term resilience than the OnePlus 7 Pro and Oppo Reno pop-up cameras. The phone also has a Smart Key. This is an additional button on the side, just high enough to be ignored 99.8% of the time. Press it and the Google Assistant pops up.
Pros
  • Gorgeous display
  • Good battery life
  • Good cameras
Cons
  • Camera motor sounds odd
  • No fingerprint scanner

tomsguide[7]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The ZenFone 6 has more than enough power to handle the things most smartphone users will throw at it. The phone ships with Android 9 Pie, and you can expect an Android Q update later. Asus is promising an upgrade path to 2020's Android R, which is a long time to support a sub-$500 phone.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Good camera performance
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Mediocre camera

trustedreviews[8]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The ZenFone 6 has a 19.5:9 display with a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. The IPS LCD panel integrates a blue light filter plus support for HDR10-compliant content. It does a solid job of covering the sRGB (99.7 percent), Adobe RGB (80.6 percent) and DCI-P3 (95.5 percent) colour spaces. The phone refills to 51 percent charge – more than enough for a day’s use – after 45 minutes, and is two-thirds full after an hours charging.
Pros
  • Fantastic performance
  • Excellent battery life
  • Superb camera
Cons
  • Software bugs
  • No IP rating
