Product Overview

Fujifilm XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR is wide-angle prime lens for Fuji's APS-C X-mount system. If offers a 27mm full-frame equivalent focal length that is popular for general photography, providing a field of view similar to that of most smartphones.
Fujifilm boasts the f/1.4 maximum aperture in a package that weighs just 370g. To achieve this, the XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR is rather complex, consisting of 15 elements in 9 groups.
Another important feature is the 20cm minimum focusing distance, giving the photographer 11cm of minimum working distance. With the bright f/1.4 aperture, the XF18mmF1.4 is a good option for indoor closeups such as tabletop photography that smartphone users love.
Last but not least, Fujifilm promises autofocus as fast as 0.04s, allowing the XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR to catch up with the company's latest cameras in burst mode.

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The XF 18mm f1.4 is a high-performance wide-angle lens for X-series mirrorless cameras. It has a flexible 27mm field of view and a bright aperture that allows attractive shallow depth of field effects. Between infinity and around 1m, the 18 1.4 exhibits minimal breathing with only the mildest magnification. Between 1m and the closest distance the breathing accelerates, becoming much more noticeable.
    Pros
    • Flexible 27mm field of view
    • Bright aperture
    • Compact design
    Cons
    • Breathing can be distracting

    dpreview[2]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from dpreview have found:
Center sharpness is very good even at F1.4, and the corners are pretty good too. Stopping down to F4 yields only minimal improvement in the center along with a more noticeable boost in corner sharpness. Some minimal cat's eye is noticeable in the corners when shooting wide-open, but it's well controlled and goes away by F2.8.
    Pros
    • Bright F1.4 maximum aperture
    • Compact build
    • Decent image quality
    Cons
    • Short focus throw
    • Lateral chromatic aberration
