Product Overview

Panasonic JZ980 is the most affordable option in the Panasonic's 2021 4K OLED TV lineup. Sharing all the designs and features of the JZ1000, the JZ980 is driven at a lower power rating, with supposedly sacrifices in maximum brightness and dynamic range.
As such, compared to the range-topping JZ2000 and JZ1500, the JZ980 loses Panasonic's "Master HDR OLED Professional Edition" OLED panel as well as more advanced surround processing protocols; it also comes with a simple 30W stereo speaker setup built-in.
Still, the JZ980 is a great option for both films and games. Powered by the same HCX Pro AI Processor found in the aforementioned higher-end models, the JZ980 offers low latency boosted by variable refresh rate (VRR) support in the form of AMD FreeSync Premium. Its weakness in audio processing is irrelevant when the AV system incorporates a separated sound system.
