Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac) Huawei's camera app hides HDR in its “More” tab, but it seems to be built into the normal shooting mode. The feature is very powerful and can be quite aggressive on the Mate 30 Pro. It captures an incredible amount of detail in the highlights and shadows on all three cameras. There are a few shooting modes in the slow-motion mode, including an eye-watering 720p option.
Pros
- Incredible low-light video performance
- Impressive camera performance
- Great battery life
Cons
- Slow-motion video is subpar
- Poor low light video quality
cnet[2]
Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)Huawei's Mate 30 Pro has one of the best camera setups on any Android phone. Photos generally look spectacular, with rich color and crisp detail. The phone's 6.53-inch, 2,400x1,176x-pixel screen is beautiful, bright and crisp.
Pros
- Gorgeous OLED display
- Beautiful, bright OLED screen
- Great battery life
Cons
- No volume buttons
- Slow-motion camera isn't perfect
digitaltrends[3]
Reviewer score 53% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Huawei Mate 30 Pro runs Android, and has EMUI 10 over the top. You won't find any Google apps, or pre-installed Facebook or booking.com apps. It's identical to China-only versions of Huawei phones I've used in the past. The standard app store is the Huawei App Gallery, and it's mostly awful.
Pros
- Gorgeous design
- Excellent cameras
- Good battery life
Cons
- No Google apps
- Limited app store
nextpit[4]
Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)During the day and in well-lit rooms, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro takes beautiful photos. Low light shots are convincing, confirming the brand's ability in this area. The special night mode is rather slow when you activate it manually but does a great job even in completely dark environments. The 32-megapixel front camera convinces by offering detailed, natural-colored selfies.
Pros
- Wide-angle camera
- High-contrast display
- Good battery life
Cons
- Mediocre low-light camera performance
- No telephoto lens
notebookcheck[5]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Mate 30 Pro has a high-end Kirin 990 SoC and 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Graphics tasks are carried out by an ARM Mali-G76 MP16, in essence, the same GPU as in its predecessor. The UFS 3.0 memory of the Huawei smartphone is extremely fast and gives no cause for criticism.
Pros
- High-quality OLED display
- Fast SoC
- Good battery life
Cons
- Mediocre camera performance
- No wireless charging
- No IP certification
pcmag[6]
Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)) and 7.0 ounces, it's a pretty big phone. The screen is a 6.53-inch OLED "waterfall display," meaning it curves around the sides like some of Samsung's phones. The circular, quad camera setup on the back of the Mate 30 Pro should be enough to keep any shutterbug satisfied.
Pros
- Excellent low-light performance
- Good battery life
- Good camera array
Cons
- No IP68 rating
- No headphone jack
techadvisor[7]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)The 4500mAh battery is undoubtedly among the largest in a current-gen flagship phone. The same 40W SuperCharge speeds as found on the P30 Pro make their return, able to juice the Mate 30 Pro from empty to 66% in just 30 minutes. A full charge takes an equally-impressive 70 minutes flat. There's improved wireless charging (up to 27W) and superior reverse wireless charging.
Pros
- Impressive performance
- Excellent battery life
- Impressive cameras
Cons
- No Google Play support
- No wireless charging
techradar[8]
Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is big, but not quite Galaxy Note 10 Plus big, with its smaller 6.53-inch screen. Its design is standout though with a true edge-to-edge curved screen that, when viewed head-on, looks like it wraps around the phone. While viewing angles are respectable for an OLED screen, thanks to the extreme curve either side, vignetting is more noticeable than any other smartphone. There's no headphone jack, and there's a mono bottom-firing speaker too - not ideal audio credentials from a flagship.
Pros
- Incredible edge-to-edge curved screen
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- No headphone jack
- No IP68 water and dust resistance
- No volume rocker
tomsguide[9]
Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)Huawei's Air Gestures needs greater versatility before it becomes a killer feature for the phone. At 4,500mAh, the new phone's battery has 200mAh more than the Note 10 Plus. The Mate 30 Pro's fingerprint reader is an optical model that we've seen on previous Huawei smartphones.
Pros
- Fast and secure Face ID
- Excellent cameras
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- No waterproofing
- No wireless charging
trustedreviews[10]
Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)The 6.53-inch OLED screen is immediately distinctive for its waterfall design, with the sides tumbling over the edges at an angle of 88-degrees. With a resolution of 1176 x 2400 (409ppi) it’s not the very sharpest screen on the market. The battery has an impressive 4500mAh capacity, and it is one of this phone's strongest attributes. This device shipped without any Google apps, but it still runs on an open-source version of Android 10.
Pros
- Excellent camera
- Excellent battery life
- Fast charging
Cons
- No Google apps
- Unimpressive camera performance
