Product Overview

Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE / RF is a full-frame, short telephoto, autofocus prime lens for Sony's E-mount and Canon's RF-mount mirrorless systems. It optimizes for portrait photography by combining high optical quality and smooth out of focus rendering (bokeh).
Thanks to its large f/1.4 maximum aperture and the 9 rounded aperture blades, the AF 85mm F1.4 offers not only strong low-light capability but also strong subject separation. It also uses four high reflection glasses and one extra low dispersion glass to reduce lens aberrations.
Like other autofocus Samyang lenses, the AF 85mm F1.4 is constructed out of an aluminum body and features weather sealing against dust and water.

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Rokinon 85mm F1.4 AF Sony E has loads of appeal for full-frame photographers looking for a budget-friendly portrait lens. Focus is available to about 3 feet (0.9-meter), good enough for 1:9 life-size reproduction. There is some false color visible, a concern for Raw photographers, and autofocus isn't as consistent as name-brand alternatives.
Pros
  • Sharp, accurate autofocus
  • Wide field of view
  • Dust and splash protection
Cons
  • Occasional chromatic aberration
  • No optical stabilization

The Samyang 85mm F1.4 AF (700 euros) is an excellent portrait lens and the best AF lens produced by Samyang so far. It has achieved an excellent balance between sharpness and bokeh quality. Very fast and efficient AF (with lens firmware V03) on Sony A7RIII V3.00 Low distorsion and lens fall off, very low CA wide open. Good color rendition. Weather Sealing Moderate weight Resistance to flare could be better Minimum focusing distance of 90cm vs 80cm for Sony versions.
