Product Overview

The 2021 Gigabyte AORUS 17G is a 17.3-inch flagship gaming laptop that improves upon the 2020 model by offering NVIDIA RTX 30-series GPUs. Other premium features such as mechanical keyboard and 300Hz IPS display with 72% NTSC gamut are carried over.
Other tangential improvements include the larger 99Wh battery, the inclusion of a Thunderbolt 3 port, and the upgrade of HDMI to v2.1.
At the same time, the 2021 AORUS 17G retains the characteristic 1-inch chassis, the world's thinnest with a full-size mechanical keyboard. A large collection of I/O options as well as the elegant CNC aluminum alloy chassis makes the 17G a great candidate as mobile workstation, too.
Alongside the AORUS 17G, Gigabyte also refreshed the AORUS 15G and AORUS 15P with RTX 30-series graphics at CES 2021.

pcworld[1]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcworld have found:
The keyboard features per-key lighting and Omron mechanical switches, which offer a nice, deep 2.5mm of travel and a 1.6mm actuation point. The camera is a pretty typical 720p resolution, with a physical slide cover and average image quality. The speaker quality is better than we've heard in thin-and-light gaming laptops.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Loud fans
  • No Thunderbolt 3

Reviewers from techradar have found:
The updated Gigabyte Aorus 17G is one of the latest gaming laptops to come with Nvidia's new RTX 3000 series of laptop graphics cards. You're getting an Intel Core i7-10870H CPU and 32GB of RAM to help this shiny new addition to the Nvidia GPU family power all of your games and software. The 17.3-inch 1080p display is exceptionally color accurate and bright, with an outlandish 300Hz refresh rate. Along the sides of the device you'll find three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, HDMI, mini display port (DP), ethernet and dedicated audio jacks.
Pros
  • Superb gaming performance
  • Excellent battery life
  • Excellent webcam
Cons
  • No SD card reader

The Ampere Aorus 17G has a 17.3 inch 300HZ IPS-level display. It has an Intel Core i7-10870H, up to 64GB of DDR4-2933MHz RAM (our unit had 32GB) and 1TB of SSD storage. It's about $1000 cheaper than its competitors, even with the same CPU and memory/SSD loadouts.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Solid performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No physical mechanical keyboard
  • Display is limited to FHD
