Product Overview

Gigabyte AORUS 17G is a 17.3-inch ultra-premium, ultra-portable gaming laptop that features mechanical keyboard, up to 300Hz IPS display with 72% NTSC wide gamut, 10th-gen Intel Core i9-10980HK processor, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER graphics --- all in a chassis merely 1-inch in thickness.
Featuring a large 94Wh battery in such a thin chassis, the AORUS 17G is designed for long, extreme gaming sessions on-the-go. Making this feat possible is Gigabyte's latest WINDFORCE Infinity Cooling System with dual 12V 51-blade fans, five heat pipes, and four exhaust vents.
Other features include per-key RGB keyboard backlighting and nahimic 3D audio.
Gigabyte markets several other gaming laptops in the same generation: the mid-range AORUS 5 and AORUS 7, the ultra-portable AORUS 15P, the 15.6-inch version of the AORUS 17G, the AORUS 15G, and the flagship AORUS 17X.

gizmodo[1]

Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from gizmodo have found:
Gigabyte's Aorus 17G has a 240Hz 1080p display with 60 percent brightness (200 nits) Image quality on the webcam might suck, but Gigabyte has packed in an impressive display. The powerful RTX 2070 Super rarely if ever actually gets you the 240 frames per second that would take advantage of that 240Hz display.
Pros
  • Gorgeous 240Hz 1080p display
  • Excellent build quality
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Extremely hot
  • Poor webcam placement

Reviewer score 63% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The Aorus 17G takes first place in the PCMark 10 benchmark. Its lead over the competition ranges from 1 to 19%. Subjectively speaking, the overall user experience (boot-up times, loading times etc.) is on par with the rest of the competition. When using the default settings, the fans even spin in idle operation and are usually audible. At its native Full HD resolution, our review configuration can run any modern game on the highest settings smoothly.
Pros
  • Matte IPS display
  • Good input devices
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3
  • No M.2 slot for PCIe or SATA drives
  • Micro-freezes under load

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Core i7-10875H is packed with 8 cores, 16 threads and can boost all the way up to 5.1GHz. It's mechanical, with some of the most comfy switches we've ever used in a laptop. While the bezels surrounding the display are thin, they don't leave any room for a webcam.
Pros
  • Excellent gaming performance
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No webcam
