Product Overview
The 2021 ASUS ROG Strix G15 (G513) is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop sitting at the entry-level of ROG's 2021 lineup. Powered by AMD Ryzen processors and NVIDIA RTX 30-series graphics, this more powerful device is lighter and more compact than its Intel-powered predecessor.
The ROG Strix G15 newly adopts a 300Hz display with 3ms response time as well as extended RGB lighting aimed at competitive gaming. Like the G512, the G513 Strix G15 can be configured with up to 32GB DDR4 3200MHz memories and dual M.2 SSD running in RAID0. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 also come as standard.
Despite these improvements, the G513 is 7% smaller than the 2020 model.

gizmodo[1]
Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)Asus' G15 Advantage gaming laptop is powered by AMD's new RX 6800M mobile graphics card. The G15's speakers are pretty punchy, pumping an above average amount of bass. With a built-in Ethernet jack and support for Wi-Fi 6, it should provide a speedy connection.
Pros
- Excellent gaming performance
- Excellent battery life
- Comfortable keyboard
Cons
- No webcam
laptopmag[2]
Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)Asus has bundled just about everything you need into its Armoury Crate hub. The Strix G15's top bezel is so slim, there's no room for a webcam. If you're looking to stream on this bad boy, take a trip over to our best external webcam page.
Pros
- Gorgeous 16:10 display
- Powerful AMD processor
- Good battery life
Cons
- No webcam
- No Thunderbolt 3
notebookcheck[3]
Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Strix G15 impresses with an elaborate design and fast hardware. The built-in speakers sound exceptionally clear when it comes to mids and highs, but they can't produce a convincing bass. The battery capacity of 90 Wh is relatively high, even though the slimmer MSI GS66 Stealth with its 99.9 Wh battery shows that a little bit more can still be achieved.
Pros
- High-quality case
- Decent performance
- Good battery life
Cons
- High temperatures under load
- No SD card reader
pcworld[4]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition offers top-notch performance, price, and a webcam. In that price range, we could find only a single GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop-based gaming laptop. You're basically getting one of the fastest laptops available with a GPU that can run Nvidia's best in conventional gaming.
Pros
- Best-in-class gaming performance
- Good battery life
- Competitive price
Cons
- No webcam

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition G513 is a great all-round gaming laptop. Runs the very best PC games of the day without any issue. AMD SmartShift technology is on board as well, which optimises CPU and GPU load depending on the current task. FreeSync support ensures gameplay stays smooth and fluid.
Pros
- Great all-round performance
- Excellent keyboard and trackpad
- Good battery life
Cons
- No webcam
- No webcam
techradar[6]
Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Strix G15 is an absolute powerhouse of a gaming laptop. Packed with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, 16GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6800M. In pretty much every benchmark we throw at this laptop, it passes up Nvidia's GPU. Just like many other Asus gaming laptops over the last year or so, there's no webcam on this laptop.
Pros
- Gorgeous design
- Long battery life
- Comfortable keyboard
Cons
- Middling performance
- Heavy charging adapter
theverge[7]
Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Strix G15 Advantage Edition is one of the longest-lasting gaming laptops I've ever tested. An RGB light bar runs under the front edge of the deck, and the keyboard has per-key RGB lighting. Port selection is okay but could be better. The Strix is more of a niche purchase at a sub-$2,000 price point.
Pros
- Powerful RGB lighting
- Long battery life
- Comfortable keyboard
Cons
- Mediocre webcam
- No Thunderbolt 3
tomshardware[8]
Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Strix G15 is the first in a line of "AMD Advantage"-branded notebooks. The combination of the AMD Ryzen 5900HX and Radeon RX 6800M make a potent, thin gaming machine. Powerful Dolby Atmos speakers and long battery life when you aren't gaming are nice bonuses.
Pros
- Powerful AMD Ryzen 5900HX CPU and GPU
- Dolby Atmos speakers
- Long battery life
Cons
- No webcam
- No webcam
trustedreviews[9]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Strix G15 G513 has a 15.6in IPS panel with a 1080p resolution, 3ms response time and 300Hz refresh rate. It doesn’t have Nvidia G-Sync, but it’s still excellent for gaming: the refresh rate delivers butter-smooth and incredibly quick motion in games. The laptop never became too hot: the underside remained cool enough for on-lap use, no matter the test or power mode.
Pros
- Excellent gaming performance
- Great thermal performance
- Good battery life
Cons
- No G-Sync
