Product Overview

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 with AMD is an ultra-portable business laptop that is the descendant of the original ThinkPad X-series. In 2020, it is thinner and lighter than ever while boasting long-lasting all-day battery performances. The 3rd-gen AMD Ryzen PRO processors offer improved performance over their Intel counterparts while offering enhanced security and AMD's PRO manageability.
Like other ThinkPads, the X13 is tested against 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 quality checks to ensure their robustness. Enhanced ThinkShield features like ThinkShutter and discrete Trusted Platform Module (dTPM) offers improved security.
Like other premium 2020 ThinkPad models, it also features WiFi 6 and optional LTE-A WWAN to ensure fast network connection in all professional and personal use cases.
The clamshell X13 is also available with Intel processor. There is also a 2-in-1 model, the X13 Yoga, which shares most of the technical features with the Intel-version of X13.

Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The ThinkPad X13 hits a grand slam on our Handbrake test. It duplicated a 5GB multimedia file in 7 seconds for a rate of 745.1 megabytes per second. AMD throws in a diagnostics app aptly named Bug Report Tool to go with a handful of stock Windows 10 Pro apps.
Pros
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Comfortable trackpad
  • Excellent performance
Cons
  • Poor battery life
  • Mediocre webcam

notebookcheck[2]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
There are three AMD Renoir CPUs available in the ThinkPad X13 Gen 1. Part of the package is a corresponding AMD iGPU. Memory is soldered with 8, 16 or 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM. The Samsung PM981a is a very fast PCIe NVMe SSD in the M.2 2280 format.
Pros
  • Matte IPS screen
  • Good input devices
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Only one M.2 2280 slot

pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
PCMark 10 and 8 are holistic performance suites developed by the PC benchmark specialists at UL. All five ultraportables cleared the 4,000 points that indicate an excellent score in PCMark 10. The ZenBook is the only system here with a discrete GPU, but it barely beat the ThinkPad. You should shun its base models that lack full HD screen resolution.
Pros
  • Excellent battery life
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Solid performance
Cons
  • Underwhelming 4K display
  • Lackluster keyboard

tomsguide[4]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The ThinkPad X13 runs on a six-core 2.1GHz Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U CPU with 8GB of RAM. The X13 can handle running multiple browsers at once along with apps like Adobe Creative Suite and Discord. It's rugged, packs extra keys in the keyboard, and has enough ports to have adapters coming in and out of it.
Pros
  • Sleek, rugged design
  • Comfortable keyboard and trackpad
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Lackluster performance
  • No Thunderbolt 3

tomshardware[5]

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomshardware have found:
The AMD-powered ThinkPad X13 came out at or near the top on all of our productivity benchmarks. The X13's display (at least the 300-nit model we tested) is unfortunately dim and less vivid than all of its competitors. The laptop also scored 2 hours less battery life than its nearest competitor on our benchmark.
Pros
  • Great productivity performance
  • Bright, colorful screen
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Dim, dim screen
  • Poor webcam quality
