MSI Alpha 17 is a 17.3-inch gaming laptop that is one of the world's first to feature 7nm AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU and AMD Radeon RX 5600M GPU together.

The Alpha 17 comes with an optional 144Hz FreeSync Premium display that delivers bright and surprising color accuracy along with a smooth and tear-free gaming experience. Thanks to MSI's Cooler Boost 5 thermal solution with a total of 7 heat pipes, the Alpha 17 is able to package its powerful components in a chassis smaller than its competition while delivering enduring performance.

MSI also markets a 15.6-inch variant in the Alpha series powered by Ryzen 4000-series CPUs, the Alpha 15. There is also a slightly more portable model, also powered by AMD CPU and GPU combo, the Bravo 17.

The MSI Alpha 17 shows good performance here, but it's not quite sufficient for very demanding games. The AMD Radeon RX 5600M can run most modern games smoothly in Full HD and with high detail levels. In our practical WLAN test, MSI's gaming laptop achieves a runtime of 7:18 hours.
