Product Overview
ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 G732 is a 17.3-inch premium gaming laptop that features up to Intel Core i9-10980HK processor and NVIDIA RTX 2080 SUPER graphics. A mid-level option in ASUS ROG's 2020 gaming lineup, the G732 SCAR 17 offers exceptional performance in a chassis just over 1-inch thick.
Like its predecessor, the SCAR 15 G732 comes with extensive RGB lighting support. New in the G732 is the 300Hz / 3ms IPS panel that, when paired with the newly-available RTX 2080 SUPER graphics, can deliver extremely smooth visual experience in games. Up to 32GB DDR4-3200MHz memories and dual M.2 SSD running in RAID0, again new to the G732, minimizes lag. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 are also newly available.
For those who prefer a more portable option, ASUS also offers the ROG Strix SCAR 15 that shares much of the same features with the SCAR 17.
For a slightly tuned-down version, ASUS markets the ROG Strix G15 and G17. The ROG Zephyrus S15 and S17 are ultra-portable options that do not sacrifice on performance. The Zephyrus M15 is a tuned-down version of the Zephyrus S15. The flagship this year is the Zephyrus Duo 15 that comes with dual 4K displays.
ASUS also markets AMD-powered Zephyrus G14 and G15 for those that prefer the red team.

External Reviews
notebookcheck[1]
Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Core i9-10980HK is an eight-core CPU from Intel's Comet Lake generation. It offers 16 MB L3 cache and can process up to 16 threads in parallel via Hyper-Threading. 32 GB of RAM will be enough for quite a while, too. The sound quality is quite good by laptop standards.
Pros
- Matte IPS display
- High-quality case
- Good input devices
- Good battery life
Cons
- Very loud under load
- No SSD RAID
pcmag[2]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 is an expensive gaming laptop, and it performs like one. The laptop itself is pretty unremarkable, though, as a design. It's hard to get too enthused about the chassis quality or design, it's not especially portable, and the battery doesn't last too long.
Pros
- Incredible gaming performance
- High-quality components
- Powerful GeForce RTX 2080 Super GPU
- Good battery life
Cons
- No Thunderbolt 3 port
tomshardware[3]
Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 G732 is surprisingly cool during use. It doesn't come with a webcam, which has become the standard for Asus' ROG gaming laptops. The Scar is mostly free of bloatware, aside from common Windows pre-installs like Candy Crush Friends.
Pros
- Powerful performance
- Sleek design
- Good battery life
Cons
- Mediocre performance
- No webcam
