Product Overview

SIGMA 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary lens is one of four compact prime lenses designed to excel at both stills and video for the full-frame Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount systems.
Designated as the "I" series, the new series of compact lenses feature a gorgeous all-metal design that optimizes the manual focus experience in autofocus lenses. Each comes with an aluminum lens cap and petal-type lens hood.
Despite their compact sizes, these lenses are designed to minimize optical aberrations, with the only tradeoff being the moderate maximum aperture. Still, SIGMA designed these lenses to deliver sharp images wide open.
The three other lenses in this new series include the 35mm F2 DG DN, 45mm F2.8 DG DN, and 65mm F2 DG DN lenses.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Sigma 24mm f3.5 DG DN is an attractive lens for wide-angle photographers who value portability and price over the shallowest depth-of-field or smoothest rendering. It plays to its strengths, delivering sharp results across the frame even on high resolution bodies coupled with fast focusing and a retro-inspired design.
Pros
  • Sharp image quality
  • Compact, compact design
  • Fast autofocus
Cons
  • Vignetting at f3.5

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Sigma 24mm F3.5 DG DN Contemporary captures wide views, focuses close, and aluminum construction adds to its appeal. The lens can autofocus down to 4.3 inches, good enough for 1:2 macro results. Optical stabilization isn't included, but it's not expected in this type of lens.
Pros
  • Fast autofocus
  • Excellent build quality
  • Dust, splash, and fluorine protection
Cons
  • Lack of manual focus
  • Lacks anti-smudge coating

sonyalpha[3]

Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from sonyalpha have found:
The Sigma 24mm F3.5 DG DN is part of the new I Series of Sigma of High quality compact lenses. The lens is equipped with a click only aperture ring that can also be switched to A= Auto mode to be controlled by the body. It is the most expensive with the slowest aperture, it is the heaviest. Tests were made on a Sony A7RIV with 61Mpix.
Pros
  • Excellent ergonomics in a very compact size and is very discrete if you work in a unsafe place
  • Super smooth background blur for close shots (min focusing distance <11cm)
  • Very good results in term of Sharpness, Bokeh, background blur smoothness and c...
Cons
  • Not a lens for the casual shooter that will prefer the (450 euros) that offer a better aperture and better sharpness on 61Mpix and a bit more soft background blur
