Sonus faber Sonetto II
Bookshelf LoudspeakerProduct Gallery
Product Overview
Sonetto II is the larger of the two bookshelf loudspeakers in the Sonetto collection by Sonus faber. It features one newly-designed 165mm woofer with a special aluminum alloy diaphragm for fast, tight, and deep bass.
Drawing upon timeless Italian tradition and craftsmanship, the Sonetto series combines them with the latest technological innovation. Despite being the most affordable line by the high-end HiFi manufacturer, the Sonetto series features many iconic elements from speakers further up the Sonus faber range:
The Sonetto series employs the "Voice of Sonus faber", the iconic configuration of tweeter and midrange that features the DAD (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter technology and a woofer complete with the company's proprietary natural fiber cone, previously exclusive to Olympica, Homage, and Reference collections.
Other iconic elements of the brand include natural materials, the Lute shape, and pristine Italian hand-finished cabinets. The front baffle with curved sides is accented by gun-metal finished aluminium frames and a soft leather top. Solid aluminium is used throughout to provide solidity. Down-firing reflex ports allow for ease of placement and consistent bass output across listening environments.
Other loudspeakers in the Sonetto collection include the three floorstanders, Sonetto VIII, Sonetto V, and Sonetto III, a smaller bookshelf speaker, Sonetto I, two center channel speakers, Sonetto Center II and Sonetto Center I, and a wall-mount speaker, Sonetto Wall.

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)Placed just 20cm from the boundary wall and slightly toed-in, it has a pleasingly open sound that is inviting. It makes music with relish, celebrating what it is being asked to play rather than just serving it up to you with a decidedly disinterested look. The Police's Wrapped Around Your Finger sounds really good, yet it isn't the hi-fi aspects I most enjoy.
Pros
- Gorgeous, detailed midband and treble
- Impressive build quality
Cons
- Bass can be a little loose
parttimeaudiophile[2]
Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Fritz Carbon 7 SE speakers have long been a fixture here in the main listening area due to the fact that they sound better than good in nearly any audio setup. Compared to the Sonus Faber Sonetto IIs, the Amphion Argon 3S is something of a different beast. Both speakers fall most definitely to the warm side of neutral in an inviting sort of way.
Pros
- Sleek, modern look and sound
- Excellent tonal and dimensional clarity
- Comfortable to use
Cons
- Not as detailed as the Sonus Faber Sonetto IIs
