Product Overview

The FreeBuds Studio are Huawei's new flagship wireless over-ear headphones with industry-leading intelligent dynamic active noise cancellation.
The large ear cups measure 65mm x 42mm to create a spacious fit, while the headband uses a streamlined design and can extend to 150 degrees to fit different head shapes and sizes.
The four-layer 40mm polymer diaphragm drivers deliver an ultra-wide frequency response of 4Hz to 48kHz. Huawei's proprietary L2HC wireless audio codec technologies achieve an audio transmission rate of up to 960 kbps, allowing the headphones to deliver a true HiFi experience.
Thanks to the "TAT" double-layer sound insulation structure and intelligent dynamic ANC, the FreeBuds Studio achieve up to 40dB of noise cancellation. Awareness and voice modes are also supported.
In terms of connectivity, the FreeBuds Studio feature four-channel, dual-mode, and dual connection, allowing users to simultaneously connect to two devices without needing to disconnect and re-connect. They are also the industry's first dual antenna over-ear wireless headphones that offer omnidirectional Bluetooth signal coverage.

notebookcheck[1]

Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The controls are partly controlled via the physical buttons on the ear cups. Gestures on the right ear cup can be used to answer, reject or end calls. The sound of the FreeBuds Studio is certainly good, but it unfortunately does not sound and feel like High-Res, even though our player supports the required L2HC codec.
Pros
  • Very good sound quality
  • Active noise cancelling
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Lack of SBC codec support

Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The FreeBuds Studio offer excellent sound quality with a rich, balanced and spacious profile. They suit a wide range of genres as well as listening to podcasts and the like. There's minimal distortion at high volume levels so sonically, these are solid headphones. The active noise cancelling promises a lot, too, with 'Intelligent Dynamic ANC' Using the ANC button on the left earcup you can quickly cycle between modes.
Pros
  • Solid sound quality
  • Good battery life
  • Good noise cancelling
Cons
  • No iOS app
  • Not compatible with Android devices

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
Huawei FreeBuds Studio are stellar all-rounders. Vocals are consistently clean and crisp, especially female vocals. The surround sound experience and dialogue were clear, balanced and unintrusive. Activating ANC mutes whirs from PC fans, trains and traffic. Connecting to a smartphone is simple enough using Bluetooth 5.2.
Pros
  • Great all-round sound
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Not class-leading
  • Limited app controls

trustedreviews[4]

Reviewer score 45% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The FreeBuds Studio are Huawei’s first wireless noise-cancelling headphones. They’re beautifully built and enjoy a high-quality finish. But intangibles such as timing and musicality are absent. Battery life is somewhat down on the competition, offering 20 hours with ANC on.
Pros
  • Excellent build quality
  • Impressive noise-cancelling
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No musicality
  • Noisy mid-range
