Product Overview

The NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S is the fastest autofocus prime lens that Nikon has ever produced. The bright f/1.2 aperture combined with the 50mm focal length makes this lens an excellent option for portrait, street, landscape, and night photography.
The dual stepping motors (STM) as well as a multi-focusing system enable multiple lens elements to focus simultaneously for faster and more precise AF performance, making the Z 50mm f/1.2 S great for not only stills but also video work.
Like other professional Z-mount lenses, the Z 50mm f/1.2 S features a customizable control ring, shortcut button, and an EL Display panel.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
Nikon’s Z 50mm f1.2 S is a big step-up over their existing 50/58mm DSLR lenses. It is excessively big and quite heavy for that it offers a very bright focal ratio. Focus accuracy and repeatability is critical to consistently produce sharp shots. If you use the control ring on the lens to change the aperture this works smoothly and without noise.
Pros
  • Very bright f1.2
  • Very bright focal ratio
  • Very fast AF
Cons
  • Very heavy
  • No fluorine coating

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Nikkor Z 50mm F1.2 S joins the growing ranks of big lenses for mirrorless cameras. Focus is available to 17.7 inches (0.45m), good enough for 1:6.7 life-size magnification at the closest working distance. Image stabilization isn't included, but it also isn't expected.
Pros
  • Excellent sharpness at f/1.2 and f/2.2
  • Wide open clarity
Cons
  • No image stabilization
