Product Overview

The NKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 is the shortest and lightest full-frame professional ultra-wide angle zoom lens that Nikon has produced. It joins the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S and 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lenses to complete the trinity of fast aperture Z series zooms.
A versatile lens, the Z 14-24mm f/2.8 takes advantage of the optical superiority of the Z-mount, producing edge-to-edge sharpness and minimal distortion as well as aberrations for stills and videos.
Despite being an ultra-wide zoom, the front element on the Z 14-24mm f/2.8 is almost flat. This allows the attachment of a threaded filter to the included additional lens hood (HB-97). A rear filter holder also exists.
Like other professional NIKKOR Z lenses, the Z 14-24mm f/2.8 features a customizable one-touch shortcut button, EL Display panel, and a custom control ring.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Nikon Z 14-24mm f2.8 S is the only ultra-wide zoom lens available in Z-mount. At 24mm focal length the lens focuses super fast in around 0.2 sec from infinity to 0.35m (1:10 magnification) The zoom ring is located at the middle of the lens and turns through 70 degrees. It has a 19mm wide rubber surface with a good grip.
Pros
  • 1.7x zoom
  • Fully parfocal
  • Very good focus accuracy
Cons
  • Bulky and heavy
  • Front filter needs a lot of force

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from dpreview have found:
The Nikon Z 14-24mm F2.8 S completes the company's Z-mount trinity of bright, high-quality zooms. It focuses quickly and delivers crisp, satisfying images in most respects. While central and peak sharpness at your point of focus are both very good wide open, across the frame consistency is lacking.
Pros
  • Excellent sharpness across the frame
  • Excellent LCD info display
  • Compact, weather-sealed design
Cons
  • Bokeh can be busy in transition zones
  • Lateral chromatic aberration

pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
Like most wide zooms, the 14-24mm focuses quite close. Its 11-inch minimum focus, measured from the sensor, allows you to put the front of the lens a few inches away from a subject and lock focus. The lens doesn't include optical stabilization, but the feature is built into most Z cameras.
Pros
  • Ultra-wide, f/2.8 zoom
  • Dust and splash protection
  • In-camera correction
Cons
  • Limited focus breathing
  • No optical stabilization
