Theoretically, it can transmit up to 4804 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, but you'll never see those speeds, nor should you expect them. It has four antennas and works all the way up to the 160 MHz band.

It has a top speed of 5700Mbps, which should be more than fast enough to handle gaming, video and music streaming on most home broadband services. Like many routers, the router has a ‘quality of service’ (QoS) feature in its mobile app, which can prioritise performance for specific tasks, such as gaming. There's malware protection provided by Trend Micro, and a good selection of parental controls.

Even at a discounted cost, this piece of hardware is more towards the bottom of the midrange router market. Those that want more features, including RGB effects, or advanced gaming functions such as WTF, will find that the RT- AX86U falls short.
