Product Overview

Leica M10-R is the high-resolution model of the company's legendary M10-series digital rangefinder cameras. The significant increase in pixel count helps the M10-R deliver significantly enhanced rendition of details.
Despite its high resolution, the M10-R offers significantly reduced image noise as well as a wider dynamic range, thanks to the latest sensor technology. The M10-R completes the Leica M10 family, which also includes the M10, M10-P, M10-D and M10 Monochrom.
Along with the clear visibility of even the finest details, the sensor provides extensive performance reserves for cropping and larger formats. In addition, the contrast-rich rendition of subtle structures leads to an even lower risk of moiré patterns. The M10-R is therefore well suited for landscape and architectural photography.
The M10-R’s base sensitivity of ISO 100 and goes up to ISO 50000. The maximum exposure time has been increased to 16 minutes, enabling extraordinary night-time shots with the use of a tripod. The Leica M10-R is equipped with the same shutter as the Leica M10-P. It is not only exceptionally quiet, but also operates with minimal vibration.

External Reviews

pcmag[1]

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Leica M10-R is more than just a specialized version of the M10. An all-new image sensor sets it apart from earlier limited-run editions and variations. As with other M10 models, there's no video support or image stabilization. If you want those features from a Leica, the SL2 is a better fit.
Pros
  • All-new image sensor
  • Easy-to-use touch screen
  • Long exposure times
Cons
  • No video support or image stabilization

techradar[2]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Leica M10-R has a maximum image size of 7864x5200 pixels with 14-bit RAW capture in the Adobe DNG format. The native sensitivity range is equivalent to ISO 100 to 6400 with extensions up to ISO 50,000. The buffer memory stays at 2GB and the continuous shooting speed is 4.5fps (versus 5.0fps)
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Wide dynamic range
  • Excellent build quality
Cons
  • No telephoto lens
  • No manual focus

wired[3]

Reviewer score 51% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from wired have found:
The M10-R has only one SD card slot, and it's a little awkward to reach. The lack of autofocus is also noticeable, but that's par for the course with the M-series. At $8,300, this camera isn't extravagantly priced, but it's prohibitively priced in the face of the world.
Pros
  • Beautiful, high-resolution sensor
  • Excellent image quality
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No autofocus
  • Only one SD card slot
