cameralabs[1]
Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)The EOS R6 may have been over-shadowed by the headline-grabbing R5, but quietly becomes one of the most compelling cameras in Canon’s range. It may lack the 45 Megapixels, 8k video, slow-motion 4k, more detailed viewfinder and slightly tougher build, but it's more notable how much they have in common. Buy the R6 and you’ll get the same built-in stabilisation, the same rear controls and the same screen articulation.
Pros
- Fantastic build quality
- Excellent autofocus and drive system
- Excellent image quality
Cons
- No built-in GPS receiver
- Slow-motion 4k video
digitalpicture[2]
Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Canon EOS R6 is a full-featured, fast, high-performing, mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with a relatively low resolution and a mid-level price. The R6 delivers sharp image quality with excellent dynamic range (exposure latitude) and high ISO noise performance. Like the R5, the controls and user interface of the R6 make it very easy to use with a grip design that makes long-term use comfortable.
Pros
- Excellent image quality
- Excellent autofocus performance
- High dynamic range (exposure latitude) and high ISO noise
- Good battery life
Cons
- Relatively low resolution
digitaltrends[3]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)Canon EOS R6 is the mirrorless camera that owners of the company's mid-level DSLRs have been holding out for. The camera feels like working with a DSLR, but offers the in-body stabilization and electronic viewfinder of a mirrorless. While the R6 now competes well, it puts Canon more on par with other mirrorless competitors than ahead of them.
Pros
- Excellent image quality for a full-frame mirrorless
- Excellent image stabilization
- Good battery life
Cons
- Bulky body
- Lack of autofocus controls
pcmag[4]
Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Canon R6 is just now going on sale, but its video functions are already a hotly contested topic. Overheating has proven to be a real issue with extended recording with the R5. The R6 isn't useless for video if it hits the overheating threshold. It's a fine choice for wedding and portrait specialists looking to add some video to client packages.
Pros
- Excellent 4K video performance
- Stabilized sensor
- Excellent autofocus
- Good battery life
Cons
- Heat management is still a concern
- Can't record at 60fps at 4K
rtings[5]
Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)Canon R6 has incredible image quality, and its autofocus system helps track moving subjects and keep them in focus. It has a remarkable high continuous shooting speed of 18 frames per second in silent mode. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to clear its buffer, which can be inconvenient. The Canon R6 isn't designed for action video.
Pros
- Fantastic image quality
- Well-built and comfortable to use
- Great video autofocus system helps track moving subjects and keep them in focus
- High continuous shooting speed in silent mode
- Exceptional image quality in both 4k and FHD
- Very good battery life
Cons
- Can be a bit heavy with its kit lens attached
- Can't really record slow-motion video

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Canon EOS R6 promises a lot with its impressive range of specifications. It produces great images, and is extremely impressive when it comes to fast frame rates, super quick autofocusing and Eye AF. Autofocusing is nothing short of fantastic, with particular special mention going to its tracking prowess when photographing animals. Vloggers/videographers will be keen to know what the R6 can offer in terms of performance - here it really is a pared-back version of the R5.
Pros
- Fantastic image quality
- Fast autofocus
- Excellent build quality
Cons
- Some overheating issues
- No DCI support
techradar[7]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)Canon's new Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system allows focusing to be done on-sensor. It gives you a whopping 6,072 AF points to choose from – higher than the R5's 5.940. Images pop with color without appearing oversaturated, as has always been Canon's trademark. Details are good for the most part but we did find the R6 struggles during bright sunlight.
Pros
- Excellent image stabilization
- Compact size
- Good image quality
Cons
- No HEIF support
- Lackluster image quality
