External Reviews
autoexpress[1]
Reviewer score 58% (normalized by Neofiliac)The VW ID.3 feels entirely like the car to carry VW into the next era. It's fast, smooth, comfortable, quiet, full of tech and cheaper than the Leaf with more incentives to buy, too. It boasts great practicality and plenty of usable range, so feels like the Golf for a new generation when the Golf seems to have gone off the boil.
Pros
- Great practicality
- Good range
Cons
- Lack of tech
- Not as comfortable as rivals
carwow[2]
Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)VW reckons the ID3 is a bit like the iPhone in 2007. It could be the car that convinces the masses that electric transportation is the future. VW has form in this kind of transformation, providing the transport for the masses with the VW Beetle, then the Golf. The ID3 will eventually be available with three battery sizes – 48kWh, a 58kWh and 77kWh. All have a 204hp electric motor.
Pros
- Fantastic range
- Comfortable to drive
- Decent infotainment system
Cons
- No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto
- Expensive for what you get
digitaltrends[3]
Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)The ID.3 is best enjoyed when driven in a calm, relaxed manner. It delivers linear acceleration, partly because the motor spins the rear wheels through a fixed-ratio gearbox that never changes gears. The only noise in the cabin comes from the wind and from the tires, but neither is excessive or annoying.
Pros
- Easy-to-navigate user interface
- Easy to drive
- Solid performance
Cons
- Expensive compared to a comparable hatchback
- Disappointing infotainment system
