Product Overview

The Honda e is an electric car designed for urban environments. The company's first battery-electric vehicle, the Honda e packs the latest technology in a compact, modern body with signature front and rear LED lights as well as glass charging port cover.
Clean lines and flush features optimize the Honda e's aerodynamics. A highlight is the Side Camera Mirror System (SCMS) that replaces conventional mirrors with compact cameras that contributes to improved aerodynamics and packaging.
Inside, the Honda e chooses materials that produce a lounge-like feel. The rear-motor, rear-wheel drive configuration and the compactness of the DC motor affords the Honda e a longer wheelbase than its exterior dimensions would suggest. Cabin comfort and space benefit as a result.
Thanks to its compact dimensions coupled with a powerful, compact electric motor, the Honda e enjoys a 50:50 weight distribution and a tiny 4.3m turning radius, making it ideal for the urban environments.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The Honda E combines the best of small cars and electric cars to make a really enjoyable driving experience. The 2530mm wheelbase is one of the longest going for a car of this length. The E is pretty decent on open roads, too. Its long wheelbase, low centre of gravity and lack of overhangs mean it resists pitching far better than most cars of this size.
Pros
  • Very good electric powertrain
  • Decent standard equipment
Cons
  • Not particularly sporty

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 58% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Honda e is the cheaper machine, yet it's better equipped, more efficient, has more tech and offers slightly more range than the MINI. With four doors (albeit a tiny boot) it's just that little bit more practical, and we love the Honda's design approach. The MINI is great fun to drive, with electric performance suiting its character. But it's not quite as comfortable and doesn't offer as much kit as the Honda.
Pros
  • Fun-to-drive feel
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Limited range
  • Not as fun as the MINI

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Honda E punches harder than a Renault Zoe from standstill, with the torque curve quickly falling off after 50mph in traditional electric car form. Honda has added a Sport mode, which remaps the motor to provide max torque a little earlier. It delivers a good punch of acceleration as a result, but you don’t really need it in a little city car.
Pros
  • Fantastic electric range
  • Sleek design
  • Good range
Cons
  • No head tilt
  • No rear-view mirror

carwow[4]

Reviewer score 54% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carwow have found:
The Honda e has gone windmilling into Dixons on Black Friday and come back with the whole shop. There's a screen for everything in there, and while it's a bit 90s in overall design, you can't accuse it of being boring. The standard car with 136hp and a quicker Advance model with 154. Both have the same motor and 35kWh battery and a modest range of 136 miles.
Pros
  • Good looks
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • Small boot
  • Small boot
