Reviewer score 80%The 2020 Hyundai Sonata will go on sale in the US in late 2019. Hyundai will introduce a new family of "Smartstream" engines with the 2020 Sonata. Cons
- Lack of power in the US
cnet[3]
Reviewer score 89%An 8-inch touchscreen is included on all Sonatas, which is great, because I find Hyundai's system to be one of the best. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, too, in the event you'd rather use what's most familiar. All-wheel drive is not available, but with the right rubber, you should feel plenty secure.

- Hands-on tech
- Comfortable to drive
- Excellent infotainment system
Cons
- No all-wheel drive
- Lackluster ride quality

Reviewer score 88%The Sonata N Line has 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to the front wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. The steering is direct and communicative, and it's also nice and heavy. The N Line gets the Sonata's best infotainment tech, with a snappy multimedia system.

Pros
- Powerful engine
- Great infotainment tech
- Fun to drive
Cons
- Not the most fun to drive
digitaltrends[5]
Reviewer score 70%Hybrid powertrain is a good fit for the Sonata's laid-back character, but don't expect impressive numbers. Sport provides the right amount of extra urgency, and Eco isn't the penalty box it is in most other cars. The Sonata Hybrid had a better showing on highways, where its floppy suspension yielded one of the smoothest rides of any midsize sedan.

Pros
- Powerful hybrid powertrain
- Comfortable ride
- Powerful electric motor
Cons
- No solar roof
- No real-world fuel efficiency
digitaltrends[6]
Reviewer score 74%The 2020 Hyundai Sonata engine lineup consists entirely of four-cylinder engines. The 1.6-liter turbocharged four-banger is the first engine to get Hyundai's continuously variable valve duration (CVVD) system. The Sonata will serve its most likely buyers – everyday commuters – well. Its strengths are a quiet cabin, comfortable ride, and smooth power delivery.

- Powerful engine
- Comfortable ride
- Decent infotainment tech
Cons
- Lack of driver-assist tech
- No digital instrument cluster

Reviewer score 70%The Sonata Hybrid's solar roof is probably this model's most talked-about feature. You can only get the solar roof on the Limited trim, and it impedes the option of a panoramic roof. All Sonatas come with an extensive suite of safety and assisted driving features.

Pros
- Powerful electric motor
- Powerful solar roof
