Product Overview
After 10 years, the Dell XPS 17 returns as the smallest 17-inch laptop in the industry at launch. Its gorgeous 4-sided InfinityEdge display with 16:10 aspect ratio makes it smaller than half of the 15-inch laptops on the market.
Thanks to Dell's unique thermal solution, the XPS 17 manages to drive the latest 10th-gen Intel Core processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics.
Machined from two pieces of aluminium, the XPS 17 is lightweight yet strong and durable. The new hinge design works in concert with the 4-sided InfinityEdge display. With up to UHD+ (3840x2400) resolution, the display on the XPS 17 is equipped with Eyesafe technology that reduces blue light emission. It is topped by the smallest HD webcam discretely hidden in the bezel.
Along with XPS 15, the XPS 17 is the first laptop to feature Waves Nx 3D audio.

External Reviews
notebookcheck[1]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)Dell doesn't market its XPS series to gamers, but the XPS 17 is wholly capable of playing the latest games nonetheless. Response times on the 4K panel are somewhat slow so gamers can expect a lot of ghosting when playing fast-paced games. The integrated buttons here are soft in feedback for an unsatisfying click when pressed.
Pros
- Very good battery life
- Excellent keyboard and touchpad
- Very good audio quality
Cons
- Slow response times on 4K panel
- High price for a 17-inch laptop

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)Dell XPS 17 9700 is a big, bold and brilliant option for creative work and battery life. It's powerful enough, but plenty of machines offer more grunt, and the stellar design is undermined by a hefty weight. The XPS is a good thermal performer, too, unlike the XPS 13 9300. There are also plenty of alternative options in our best laptop chart.
Pros
- Gorgeous 4K display
- Great battery life
- Decent keyboard
Cons
- Mediocre performance
- No 4K option
