Product Overview

Panasonic LUMIX S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 (S-R2060) is a full-frame standard zoom lens for the L-mount interchangeable lens mirrorless camera system. Compact and lightweight, the LUMIX S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 covers an unusual ultra-wide 20mm to standard 60mm focal range.
The unusual wide end makes indoor photography where room space is limited as well as landscape photography. The S-R2060 offers a minimum focusing distance of just 0.15m (max magnification 0.43x). The S-R2060 also features a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing for smooth video recording.
The use of two aspherical lenses and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses suppresses both axial and lateral chromatic aberration. The aspherical lenses also correct astigmatism. Further, a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive index) lens contributes to uniform image quality from the centre to the edges and to downsizing of the lens.

External Reviews

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The 20-60mm employs 11 elements in nine groups, including two aspherical elements. Zooming the lens from 20 to 60mm extends the barrel, while at the end is a motor-assisted manual focusing ring. There’s nine diaphragm blades, a variable aperture of f3.5-5.6, but while it lacks the constant focal ratios of the Lumix S 24-105mm f4 or 24-70mm f2.8.
Pros
  • Fantastic build quality
  • Compact and compact
  • Autofocus switch
Cons
  • Not as wide as more traditional zooms
  • No optical stabilisation

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 is a good starter lens for any full-frame camera. At 20mm, it captures a broader view than a zoom that starts at 24mm or 28mm. Despite zooming to "just" 60mm, the lens can focus as close as 5.9 inches.
Pros
  • Wide-angle coverage
  • Fluorine fluorine coating
  • Dust and splash protection
  • In-body stabilization
Cons
  • Small aperture
