cnet[1]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
Sony's WF-SP800N earbuds don't sound quite as good or have as effective noise canceling. They do have the same drivers as the 1000XM3, but they're still solid on both fronts. The only issue is that with the competition out there, they're a little expensive at $200.
Pros
  • Top-notch sound quality
  • Excellent noise canceling
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No QN1e processor
  • No wireless charging

digitaltrends[2]

Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
Right out of the box, the SP800N sound amazing. Tones are warm and rich, and the lows, midrange, and highs are well-defined. If big bass is not to your liking, you can adjust EQ inside the Headphones Connect app. As with Sony's XM3, all controls are handled via touch-sensitive areas on the earbuds.
Pros
  • Excellent sound
  • Excellent battery life
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • Battery life could be better
  • No wireless charging

laptopmag[3]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The Sony WF-SP800N have amazing battery life, loud, rich audio, great active noise cancellation and 9 hours of battery life. Listening by Adaptive Sound Control is the secret sauce as it detects your activity and location and adjusts on the fly. There are 20 levels to choose from, so you can let the world all the way in or immerse yourself in jams.
Pros
  • Comfortable fit
  • Excellent active noise cancellation
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Bass is a bit too much

pcmag[4]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
Sony's WF-SP800N earphones deliver strong ANC performance. At maximum strength, it does a solid job of tamping down powerful low frequencies. The earphones connect via Bluetooth 5.0, and support AAC and SBC codecs, but not AptX. The charging case is quite large compared with the competition.
Pros
  • Powerful audio performance
  • Strong battery life
  • Water-resistance rating
Cons
  • Only delivers one full charge

phonearena[5]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from phonearena have found:
Sony WF-SP800N headphones are truly wireless and conveniently feature adjustable noise cancelling. They also have an IP55 rating, meaning not only vague water and dust resistance, but that you can literally rinse them when needed. With up to 18 hours of battery life and clear sound and bass, they are quite the good purchase, particularly for use at the gym.
Pros
  • IP55 rating
  • Adjustable noise cancelling
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Not the most portable case

rtings[6]

Reviewer score 28% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Sony WF-SP800N are great for sports and fitness. They have a very stable fit that allows the buds to stay in your ears, even during intense workouts. With a continuous battery life of more than nine hours, they should be able to get you through a long day of travel. Their ANC system is almost useless and does very little to improve their passive isolation capabilities.
Pros
  • Bass-heavy sound profile
  • Stable and stable fit
  • Good noise isolation performance
Cons
  • Mediocre passive soundstage
  • No multi-device pairing

t3[7]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The WF-SP800N are Sony's latest wireless in-ear headphones. Powered by '360 Reality Audio' - which puts you in the centre of the audio action. Built-in mic does an excellent job of delivering instructions, just as it does in keeping call quality crisp and coherent. A degree of control is also available in Sony's exemplary 'Headphones Connect' app.
Pros
  • Decent sound quality
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • Poor low-frequency reproduction

techradar[8]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Sony WF-SP800N have a small touch capacitive control panel on each side that can be used to summon your smart assistant and control playback. Despite the myriad controls the earbuds accept, there's no way to raise or lower the volume other than summoning the Assistant. It's a tight fit if you're not used to wearing in-ear headphones and can become uncomfortable over time but in short bursts the design creates a tight seal that's great for sound quality.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Active noise cancellation
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Noise cancellation isn’t as powerful as Sony’s

theverge[9]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from theverge have found:
Sony's WF-SP800N earbuds have the company's "Extra Bass" sound profile. The low end is certainly the star of the show, which should satisfy those looking for a powerful workout soundtrack. Music is full-bodied regardless of whether you're playing a pop-filled running playlist or something quieter.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Excellent noise cancellation
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No multipoint pairing
  • No multi-device pairing

tomsguide[10]

Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The WF-SP800N works with Sony's new 360 Reality Audio platform. It requires a compatible streaming service (e.g. Deezer, Tidal) to get the most of it. The buds have quick charging to get 1 hour of playtime on a 10-minute charge.
Pros
  • Powerful audio performance
  • Water-resistant design
  • Advanced Adaptive Sound Control
  • Wireless charging
Cons
  • No NFC support
  • Battery life could be better

whathifi[11]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
Sony WF-SP800N are built up to IP55 standard, meaning they're resistant to dust, sweat and water. Control is available via Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri, and the mic array ensures your instructions are heard reliably. Sony continues to make a noise about its 360 Reality Audio format, which intends to put you in the centre of the sonic action.
Pros
  • Well-balanced sound
  • Good battery life
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • Noise-cancelling isn’t the best
